(VIDEO) K.T. Hammond threatens to give contender ‘two showdowns’
Adansi-Asokwa MP Kobina Tahir Hammond, popularly known as KT Hammond, has threatened to give his contender in the NPP primaries, Samuel Binfoh Darkwah, a showdown.
The legislator, who doubles as the Trade and Industry Minister, also vowed to beat the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Library Authority mercilessly for allegedly using ‘macho’ men to attack his supporters.
The said attack reportedly occurred on Friday night (January 26, 2024).
“We have had elections in this constituency for 24 years, and there has not been any act of violence or chaos, but Sammy Binfoh comes in anytime to cause trouble. I am very disappointed one of my people had an AK47 but decided to use a pistol to defend himself.
“I will give him two showdowns. I will humiliate him at the polls and get him beaten physically. This is not violence but a notice so wherever he is, he should leave town quickly. How can he attack my people and think he will get away with it? I will organise for him to be beaten physically,” he stressed.
But Mr Darkwah has dismissed the allegations, stating that KT Hammond is frustrated after failed attempts to get him disqualified, hence the claims.
“I’m wondering what time the attack took place, who was in charge, involved or whatsoever. I’m at a loss. I don’t know anything about this, honestly. It’s just a clear sign of frustration, a clear sign of someone desperate. If he doesn’t know me, it’s not news. He claimed that I should be disqualified, but it didn’t take place.
“He desired that today would have been a popular acclamation, but because it didn’t happen, he could come up with anything. If you look at the two of us, you can see who is frustrated, who is worried, who is losing.” Mr Darkwah explained.
Meanwhile, voting is expected to end across the various constituencies.
A total of 321 candidates are battling it out for the parliamentary seats, with 33 of them facing no opposition.
