Christian Atsu’s wife, Marie-Claire Rupio, could not hold back her tears as she tried to read the tribute she had written in honour of her late husband.
Mrs Rupio Twasam was accompanied by her three children, namely; Joshua Christian Rupio Twasam, Godwin Rupio Twasam and Abigail Rupio Twasam and the player’s sister Christiana Atsupie Twasam, to read the tribute at the funeral which was held at the forecourt of the State House on Friday, March 17, 2023.
However, an emotional Marie could not finish reading her tribute and had Atsu’s sister continue on her behalf while taking a step back to dry her tears.
Christian Atsu walked down the aisle with Marie-Claire Rupio in 2012.
The couple was blessed with two sons and a daughter.
Atsu passed away on February 18, 2023, following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on February 6, which killed more than 50,000 people in both countries.
