Seven persons have reportedly died in a tanker accident on the Amasaman – Nsawam road in the Greater Accra Region.

The accident happened on Monday, February 5, 2024, when a tanker ran over a commercial vehicle, killing seven out of the 10 passengers onboard.

According to an eyewitness, Alex Ahenkorah, who narrated the incident to the media, the tanker failed to brake and crashed into the commercial vehicle.

“The commercial driver slowed down upon getting to a section of the road which is under construction due to a hole there.

“Unfortunately, the tanker driver which was behind crashed into it and destroyed it totally,” he said.

He added that bystanders managed to remove the victims from the mangled vehicle, but most of them were unresponsive.

This comes three weeks after a tipper truck ran over a 7-year-old boy at Jisonayili, a community in the Sagnarigu District in the Northern Region.

The incident occurred when the boy was waiting for his father in his Motor King tricycle bucket.

Eyewitnesses said a Benz tipper truck loaded with sea sand, coming from the direction of Kumbungu and heading towards town, ran over the boy, leading to his untimely death.

The eyewitness added that the tipper truck in question lost control after a Mazda saloon car crossed its path, causing the truck driver to run over the little boy, smashing out his organs.
