Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, professionally known as Black Sherif, has won the Artiste of the Year award at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Blacko, as he is popularly known, swept four awards on the night out of nine nominations.
He beat off stiff competition from gospel artiste Piesie Esther, who was his closest contender.
The others nominated for the coveted award were Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi and Joe Mettle.
Black Sherif’s hard work and dominance under the year of review were prevalent as songs he recorded with others also emerged as tops.
For example, Sarkodie’s Country Side, which featured Black Sherif, was adjudged the Best Collaboration of the Year.
The 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was held on Saturday, May 6 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre, with thrilling performances from musicians such as Piesie Esther, KiDI, Epixode, Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Gyakie, Sarkodie, King Promise and Nigerian artiste Pheelz.
