Veteran musician KK Kabobo dead

Veteran highlife musician Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, popularly known as K. K. Kabobo, has passed away.

He died in the early hours of Thursday, March 14, 2024, after battling severe liver disease.

The news of his demise was disclosed by highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah.

According to him, the ‘Onyame Ehu Wu’ hitmaker was rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) on Thursday, March 14, 2024, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

One user in a Facebook post once revealed that the renowned musician had been unwell and solicited funds to support him.

This compelled former President John Mahama, First Lady Samira Bawumia, musician Wendy Shay, the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), and other close friends to donate funds to support his medical treatment.

K.K. Kabobo established his first band, Explosive Jets, in 1978.

In 1981, he dropped his first album, which had the smash hit ‘Nyatse Nyatse Girl’.

In 1992, his song ‘Onyame Ehuwo’ was declared the song of the year and had the highest number of records sold in Ghana that same year, which made him more famous.

K.K. Kabobo was ordained as a pastor by Covenant Mission Bible College in 2012.

The singer left behind 16 children.
