A domestic fire incident has resulted in the destruction of 14 rooms within a multi-room residential building located at Kukurizua, opposite Dastech, in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.
As reported by the Fire Service, a distress call was made by LFM Aduko Roland, prompting the dispatch of a firefighting crew just two minutes later at 1010 hours.
The team arrived at the site at 1015 hours, only to discover that the fire had already consumed several rooms of the residential building.
Firefighters acted promptly to control the fire, successfully managing to bring it under control by 1055 hours and completely extinguishing it by 1120 hours, thereby preventing the flames from spreading to neighbouring structures in the densely populated area.
In total, 14 rooms suffered significant damage due to the fire, while four rooms were saved thanks to the timely and coordinated actions of the GNFS crew.
The fire caused damage to parts of the building’s roof, as well as to electronic devices, furniture, and various household items.
Nevertheless, mattresses, clothing, and beds were successfully rescued, which greatly mitigated the overall losses experienced by the residents.
There were no reported injuries or fatalities, and the Ghana National Fire Service is currently investigating the cause of the fire as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.
