Update: Bishop Obinim fails to meet GH¢100k bail condition

Controversial pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has failed to meet bail conditions set by a Magistrate Court, theghanareport.com can confirm.

Bishop Obinim, charged with forgery, spent Tuesday night in police custody after he failed to provide 100,000 cedis with three sureties, Head of Public Affairs at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng told the news portal.

“He is still in custody”, she said as at 1:40 pm on Wednesday, May 20, after the court had approved his conditional release the previous day.

The self-styled ‘Angel’ was arrested and charged for the publication of false news and forgery of a document, contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) respectively.

The case has been adjourned to June 1, 2020.

Not only is he under investigation for the two charges but also being held on suspicion of engaging in “other offences levelled against him”, the CID explained.

Social media went agog about a week ago with posts suggesting that Bishop Obinim had collapsed and was hospitalised after a similar attempt to have him arrested.

The police, however, asked the public to disregard such videos as it “has no relation with the suspect’s arrest on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.”

He has been involved in several scandals in the past, including assault, and human rights abuses.

Recently, he has been involved in a series of fights with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on social media.

The MP has accused him of engaging in criminal offences and vowed to clampdown on his activities.

The MP claims he officially reported the pastor to have him arrested.

Obinim is not called by God but I’m really shocked that many people in Ghana cannot take their bible, read and understand who is really called by God. Its a clear indications that the orthodox, Catholic, charismatic, pentecostal etc have really disappointed their followers. If it had been an examination, your students would have performed very poorly, wake up Ghanaian Christian leaders wake up
