Upcoming 22 Days Of Dumsor: ECG Releases List Of More Than 50 Suburbs

More than 50 suburbs in the Greater Accra Region will be impacted by a 22-day load shedding activity to be embarked upon by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from next week.

The disruption to the power supply to places including the La Beach Hotel, Airport Residential Area and Tseaddo will begin on Monday, June 28.

The suburbs have been put into six schedule groups and they will experience the disruptions until July 19. Each group is expected to go without electricity power between 6 pm and 12 midnight at least, once a week.

A press statement from the ECG dated June 23 said the reason for the disruption was due to “the load to the Trasacco Bulk Supply Point (BSP) [which] will be managed to enable the construction of towers at the Volta, Accra East and Achimota substations and to complete the stringing and commissioning of a new double-circuit 161KV Volta-Achimota transmission line”.

Other areas that will experience this episode of what is known as dumsor include Teshie Bush Road, Adjirigaanor, Trassaco Estates, Greda Estates, Adjorman, Regimanuel Estates, Okpoi Gonnor and East Legon.
