Unidentified woman found dead with private parts severed

An unidentified woman has been discovered dead with parts of her body severed and partially clothed, near the Otorkporlu Bridge, off the Odumase-Asesewa highway in the Eastern Region.

The grim discovery, made by members of the Otorkporlu community, revealed that the victim had been subjected to some level of torture, including the severing of her tongue and private parts.

The Oterkpolu police have conveyed the body to the Eastern Regional Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

There have been many discoveries of dead bodies at various places in the country, which reveals a worrying trend.

Previous incidents

On Saturday, January 27, 2023, the decomposing body of a man was found at Diamond Hill, a suburb of Atwima Denkyemuoso, in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, believed to be in his mid-40s, was found in a bush.

Assembly Member for Atwima Takyiman-Denkyemuoso Electoral Area, Hon. David Asare, said an examination by a pathologist at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr Sampane, revealed that the deceased was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons.

The attack, according to the pathologist, led to the death of the deceased.

Also, on October 6, 2023, the decomposed body of an unknown female was found near the sacred River Subin in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

The body was reportedly found around 2:05 p.m. in a rotten state, so it was impossible to identify the deceased person.

What led to the unfortunate demise of the deceased was not readily known, but the state in which the body was found suggests some foul play.

The dead body has since been buried as the Asokwa District Police commenced investigations to unravel the exact cause of death.

Again, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the body of a mentally ill woman believed to be in her 50s was found floating on the Amissah Okye River at Mankessim in the Central Region.

The deceased was identified as Ama, a mentally ill person who had been a threat to the residents of Edumadze, a community within Mankessim.

Information gathered indicates that the deceased is also a mother of three.
