Under-fire coach Prosper Ogum loses management role at Kotoko
Asante Kotoko coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has been relieved of his position on the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) to allow him to focus solely on his responsibilities as the team’s head coach.
The decision, sanctioned by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Manhyia Palace, comes as Kotoko navigates a challenging season.
Dr. Ogum’s role on the IMC was part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at strengthening the club’s management and administrative framework.
However, his dual responsibilities became a point of concern amid the team’s inconsistent performances.
Kotoko recently snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Aduana FC, a result that momentarily eased pressure on Ogum.
Despite the win, the team’s struggles this season have placed the spotlight firmly on the head coach, who remains under scrutiny.
A club statement explained that the adjustment is designed to optimize operations and ensure alignment with the vision of Manhyia.
“This decision allows Dr Ogum to fully dedicate his efforts to his primary role as head coach, with a continued focus on leading the team to success on the pitch,” it noted.
The IMC, established to provide effective leadership and administrative support, will now continue without Dr. Ogum, as Kotoko seek to find consistency.
Kotoko are currently seventh on the table and face Hearts of Oak next in the league.
