UK PM Boris Johnson quotes Akan proverb at UK-Africa Summit 2020

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has received plaudits from Ghanaians across the globe for making reference to an Akan proverb at the ongoing UK-Africa Summit 2020 on London.

While trying to make a point concerning partnerships with African countries, Mr Johnson said: “In the words of an old Akan proverb that I picked up in Ghana, ‘all fingers are not the same’”.

Mr Johnson added: “There’s wisdom in these Akan proverbs”.

In the Akan language, the idiom is expressed as: ‘Nsa tia nyinaa nnyԑ pԑ’ to wit ‘all fingers are not the same’.

The summit is a location of convergence for leaders of some 16 African countries as well as businesses and international institutions for deliberating on investment opportunities across Africa.
