UG launches investigation into heated Gyampo–Domfeh clash

The University of Ghana has initiated an investigation into viral footage depicting a contentious exchange between two senior faculty members, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh.

The altercation occurred during a TV3 current affairs programme broadcast on Saturday, November 15, 2024.

What started as a discussion on national matters swiftly transformed into a personal confrontation, eliciting widespread public criticism and demands for the University to take action.

In a statement, the University indicated that management has acknowledged the incident and, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), has commenced internal procedures to assess the conduct of both academics and determine suitable disciplinary actions.

The statement further reiterated the University’s expectations of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff, stressing that these standards must govern behaviour in both public and private contexts.

“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and maintaining public trust in the institution,” the University added.
