U20 AFCON: Ghana plays Cameroon in quarter-finals after defeat to Gambia
The Black Satellites of Ghana is set to play Cameroon in the quarter final match in the on-going U20 AFCON tournament.
Coach Karim Zito’s men finished third in Group C after throwing away an early goal advantage courtesy a thunderbolt strike from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, to lose 2-1 to Gambia.
Goals from Kejally Drammeh and Lamarana Jallow in the 15th and 35th minutes was enough to grant the young scorpions of Gambia a win over the Satellites and a second place finish ahead of Ghana, while Morocco who beat Tanzania 3-0 to finish top of the group.
The journey to next stage of the competition saw Ghana defeat Tanzania 4-0 in the opening game, drew 0-0 with Morocco before succumbing to a defeat to The Gambia.
Cameroon on the other go into the quarterfinals with a perfect record, finishing Group A with 9 points and conceded just one goal.
The game will take place on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Stade Olympique at 4pm.
The other quarterfinal games will have Central African Republic lock horns with Gambia, Burkina Faso tries to overcome a challenge from Uganda, while Morocco clash with Tunisia in a North Africa derby.
