The police in the Upper East Region have launched a manhunt for Mark Zakaria, a suspect facing allegations of defrauding 230 job seekers out of GHS 2.8 million.

Zakaria, who is currently on the run, allegedly misled the unsuspecting job seekers into believing he could secure them jobs in state security and educational services.

According to the police, he collected money from these individuals between March and November 2024, promising them job placements in various government agencies.

He even assured them that they would be refunded if he failed to deliver.

After over a year of unfulfilled promises, Zakaria reportedly cut off all communication with his victims and vanished.

The frustrated victims, after numerous attempts to reclaim their money, filed complaints with the Bolgatanga Police. This led to investigations that resulted in the arrest of one of Zakaria’s associates.
