U/E: Over 20 houses set ablaze in Gumyoko
An unfortunate incident unfolded in the Gumyoko community in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region on May 10, as some unknown assailants set fire to at least 12 homes.
This incident appears to be a continuation of the ongoing chieftaincy dispute affecting the neighbouring Bawku area.
Reports indicate that there were similar incidents just three days prior, which brings the overall number of destroyed homes to over 20.
Residents had reportedly vacated Gumyoko nearly a month ago due to ongoing threats, leaving the area vulnerable.
The attackers seemingly took advantage of the deserted community to carry out their destruction.
Currently, there have been no arrests in connection with these attacks.
