U-20 AFCON: Coach Karim Zito targets win in tournament opener against Tanzania
Ghana U-20 head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, believes the team’s opening game against Tanzania will be crucial for their success in the ongoing U-20 African Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
The Black Satellites are set to take on the East African side at Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou at 4 pm on Tuesday.
Ghana secured qualification for the championship by reaching the final of the Wafu Zone B Cup of Nations in Benin where they ultimately won the cup.
Speaking ahead of the game, Zito emphasized that a win in their first game will give them special motivation going into subsequent ones.
“Seriously, it is a big opportunity for us. If we are able to win the first game, winning the first game gives you the motivation to play ahead.
”During the WAFU B, we were able to beat Nigeria and that carried us to the semi-finals.
“I won’t say playing Tanzania is a must-win, but winning is our first motto. I cannot talk about Morocco if I have not finished with Tanzania.
“For now, Tanzania is my headache. If I am able to go through with Tanzania then the rest will follow,” Zito concluded.
