Two suspected thieves have been apprehended in Tafo, Kumasi, after a dramatic robbery went bad.
The robbery took an unexpected turn when the culprits were knocked down by a saloon car while attempting to escape on a motorbike with a stolen GH₵50,000.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects, believed to be Nigerians, trailed a vehicle from a local bank, waited for the driver to park, and swiftly entered the car to steal money.
However, their getaway plan was foiled when a saloon car suddenly appeared and hit their motorbike, sending the thieves into a nearby gutter.
Subsequently, some irate youth in the area pounced on them and beat them to a pulp.
The thieves were left battered and bruised in the gutter until police intervened.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
