Two suspects arrested in Ahafo robbery spree
The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two people suspected of being involved in a robbery syndicate that executed coordinated assaults on a gold-buying company, a cocoa-buying firm and attempted to infiltrate the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank at Nkasiem on December 2, 2025.
According to the police, the gang “seized two police rifles” during the operation and also shot and injured a victim in the thigh.
The injured person received treatment and was discharged from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem.
The Command indicated that the arrests were made “through a targeted intelligence-led operation,” and noted that a manhunt is currently in progress for the remaining suspects.
This comes after the Inspector-General of Police dispatched a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters to assist with the regional operation.
The deployment, as stated, is to “assist the Regional Command to pursue other members of the syndicate who are currently on the run”.
Reassuring the public of ongoing efforts, the Command declared that “all members of the criminal syndicate will be identified and arrested to face the full rigours of the law”.
