Two siblings drown at Akyem Dampong
Two siblings returning from school were washed away by a heavy downpour at Asante Akyem Dampong in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, October 6.
The two boys drowned in a flood flowing into the main drainage in the community.
According to eyewitnesses, the two brothers slipped into the water. Despite their struggle to stay afloat, the tides washed them away.
“Somebody dived into the water to save them but the pressure was too strong,” an eyewitness told Adom FM.
He said one of the boys was spotted washed aside at the end of the drainage and the other afloat. They were later retrieved but pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The bodies have been sent to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
