The Ministry for the Interior has cautioned private security organizations using unauthorised uniforms to cease following the arrest of two guards for violating the private security uniform code.

This stern warning from the ministry follows the arrest of two persons for wearing “unprescribed” uniforms similar to the military, contrary to the law.

A statement issued by the Ministry for the Interior on Tuesday, June 18, said the two have since been granted bail, adding that the company involved will be sanctioned accordingly.

“The Ministry of Interior wished to caution all private security organisations using unauthorised uniforms to desist from that or will be arrested by the police and face the law”.

“As part of the Ministry’s effort to regulate the industry, on Friday, 14 June, the ministry, through the Ghana Police Service, arrested two individuals for violating regulations governing private security organisations in Ghana. The individuals were found wearing unprescribed uniforms similar to the military uniform, contrary to the regulations outlined in Police Service (Private Security Organizations) 1992(LI1571) and the Police Service Organization (Amendment) Regulations 1994(LI 1579),” the statement said.
