Two robbers gunned down as witnesses scramble for scattered money
Passer-bys scrambled for scattered money when police engaged two robbers in a gun battle after the criminals snatched more than GH¢120,000 belonging to a Lebanese and his Ghanaian partner.
There was a scramble for the cash as passers-by struggled for access to large sums of money that had scattered. The police managed to retrieve only GH¢2,500 out of the thousands of cedis the robbers stole from their victims.
The police have also confirmed that the two robbers were killed in the gun battle.
The robbery reportedly happened in the early hours of Thursday at Tema.
Reports suggested that the two robbers trailed the victims who had gone to cash the said amount from the Tema Community One branch of the Zenith Bank.
Giving an update of the case on Citi News, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Paul Kissi Frimpong said luck eluded the two robbers after the police patrol team pursued them until they were killed in a gun battle.
“A robbery took place in Tema here. A businessman had gone to Zenith Bank to withdraw over GH¢100,000. As they left the bank, these two robbers on a motorbike chased him, mobilized his vehicle by shooting at the tyres then succeeded in taking his money away,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the suspects have since been deposited at the police hospital’s morgue.
Honestly such bodies must be burn instead waisting time to keep them at hospital.
