Two people are in critical condition after an accident involving a fuel tanker and an articulated truck at Winneba junction in the Central Region.
According to reports, the fuel tanker driver with registration number GR 4339-C tried to avoid a head-on collision with an articulated truck with registration number 7310-BH.
The tanker landed in a ditch and fell on its side after it swerved the Accra-bound articulated truck that had veered off into its lane.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Winneba, ADO1 Ebenezer Fiifi Dadzie, said they rushed to the scene immediately after they got the report to avert a fire outbreak.
He indicated that the driver and his mate, who sustained injuries, were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
AD01 Dadzie added that the driver and his mate are responding to treatment.
This comes after another tanker transporting diesel from Tema towards Accra skidded off the road and overturned in an attempt to swerve a saloon car on Friday, May 12, spilling its content onto the highway.
Some drivers plying the road parked their cars to scoop the fuel with the excuse that they couldn’t watch it go to waste.
