A driver and one passenger are battling for their lives after their car crashed into an articulated truck on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Reports indicate that a Toyota Corolla with registration number GT1753-Z crashed into the articulated truck with registration number CR 2283-C at the Gomoa Onyadze section of the stretch.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Winneba Fire Station, ADO1 Ebenezer Fiifi Dadzie, the bonnet of the Toyota opened and hit its windscreen while the car was still moving.
This caused the driver to lose control of the car, hitting the side of the articulated truck in the process.
The two occupants of the Toyota sustained various degrees of injury, and the vehicle got mangled up almost beyond recognition.
The injured were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, ADO1 Dadzie used the opportunity to remind drivers to carry out routine checkups on their vehicles before driving to save lives.
This comes after an STC bus carrying Senior High School (SHS) students from Kasoa to Cape Coast crashed at Gomoa Buduatta junction a week ago.
Reports indicate that the bus driver lost control of the steering and collided with a speeding tipper truck, somersaulting in the process.
