The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two Ghanaians and a Nigerian for distributing drugs in India.
The suspects are David Narh and Emmanuel Nsiah from Ghana, and Chimobi Okpara from Nigeria.
According to the Indian police, they intercepted the two Ghanaians during a special operation at Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase 3 following tip-offs.
Upon a search, they recovered 20 ecstasy pills and 56.69 grams of cocaine from the two.
Further investigations led the team to arrest the third suspect, Okpara, who was the source of the drugs.
“On the search of his flat, a further 7.12 grams of Saing was recovered. Efforts are on to identify the forward and backward chain of the syndicate, a total of 64 grams of fine-quality cocaine and 20 pills of Ecstasy were recovered. They were supplying cocaine and ecstasy pills at parties,” DCP Amit Kaushik of the Delhi police said.
David Narh, born and raised in Accra, arrived in India in December 2023 as a result of financial difficulties.
Asian News International reports he got to know Chimobi Okpara, who brought him up to date on Delhi’s drug trade.
Emmanuel Nsiah, also a native of Accra, Ghana, relocated to India in the middle of January 2024 after friends encouraged him to pursue better career prospects.
He ended up with Okpara, who introduced him to the drug syndicate.
