Two arrested for murder of 15-year-old housekeeper in Aduman
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the robbery and murder of a 15-year-old housekeeper at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality.
The suspects, Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, appeared before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, facing provisional charges of robbery and murder.
They have been remanded into prison custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on November 25, 2025.
According to police investigations, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The complainant had parked his tricycle at his home in Aduman Old Town before travelling to Kumasi.
When he returned later that evening, both the tricycle and his two housekeepers namely Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15 were missing.
A police statement issued revealed that Abacha had planned to steal the tricycle.
He allegedly lured the two victims under the pretext of using the vehicle to transport firewood from his farm.
“After leading them into a bush, he attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicting several wounds before fleeing with the tricycle,” the statement said.
Further investigations showed that Abacha later contacted Eric, and the two hid the stolen tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery.
They then sold it to a third suspect, identified only as Balawe, who is currently on the run.
The following morning, residents found Yankyira unconscious in a cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery.
He had sustained deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear, and was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for treatment.
Shortly afterwards, Boateng’s body was discovered nearby with similar injuries.
Police recovered a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack and conveyed the deceased’s body to St. Patrick’s Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Through an intelligence-led operation, Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu. He later led officers to arrest Eric at Aboabogya.
Both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation.
Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest Balawe and retrieve the stolen tricycle.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the nearest police station or call 191, 18555, or 112.
