Truck carrying iron rods overturns at Oforikrom, destroys NYA edifice

A truck transporting building materials from Tema to Burkina Faso overturned at Oforikrom in the Ashanti Region, leading to the destruction of some parts of the National Youth Authority (NYA) office.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

It is alleged that the vehicle, which experienced brake failure, hit the pavement, causing it to veer off the road and damaging some agency offices of the NYA.

An eyewitness narrating the incident to Citi News and monitored by The Ghana Report said that both the driver and the conductor, who were inside the vehicle during the incident, were safe, and no casualties were recorded.

“The truck was coming from Tema to Burkina Faso. When it reached Oforikrom while descending from the mountains, its brakes failed, and it hit the pavement and landed on this side,” the eyewitness narrated.

“No one was hurt”.

The eyewitness stated that unless authorities came and investigated the incident, they could not determine what was in the truck apart from the iron rods they were seeing.
