The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued a strong warning to party members and the public against any attempts to disrupt the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.

Speaking during the signing of a peace pact by NPP presidential aspirants, Mr. Kodua Frimpong assured that the party is committed to holding the internal elections in a free, fair, and secure environment at all voting centres across the country.

“I want to use this medium to send a strong caution to any person in our party or outside our party who has any intention of discrediting or trying to mar the beauty of our democracy come January 31.

“Be careful, because on that day the IGP and his men will apprehend anybody who tries to cause chaos,” Mr Kodua warned on Thursday, January 22.

The NPP General Secretary also used the occasion to appeal to the presidential aspirants to conduct themselves with restraint and uphold party unity before, during and after the contest.

According to him, no single aspirant can secure victory in the 2028 general elections without the collective support of the party, stressing the need for reconciliation after the primaries.

“This contest is not a war. It is only to show whether you have the support of the party or not. When you win, you still need the support of your brothers to carry on and win the election in 2028,” he said.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong also assured the presidential aspirants that the party’s leadership is fully prepared to support all candidates and will lead a reconciliation process after the primaries to ensure unity within the NPP ahead of the 2028 elections.

The signing of the peace pact is part of the party’s efforts to promote peaceful internal elections and foster cohesion as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.
