Transport fares up by 10%; passengers to pay more from September, 16
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced an increment in transport fares by 10%.
The increase is a result of recent fuel price hikes, The Ghana Report can state.
In a statement signed by both the National Chairman of the Ghana Private Transport Union, Kwame Kuma and National Chairman of the Ghana Road Coordinating Council, John Benyawoh, the new fares will take effect on Monday, September 16.
“The new fares cover intra-city transportation popularly known as as Trotro, intercity or long distance trips and shared taxis, ” extracts of the statement available to The Ghana Report reads.
The last time fares were increased was in January 2018.
