Trailer Crushes Construction Worker To Death At Ofankor
One construction worker has reportedly been killed, with a few others injured at Ofankor Barrier (Ofankor-Nsawam road) after an overspeeding fully packed trailer from Kumasi failed to heed road signs and a construction worker who was directing the traffic.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Clement Wilkinson, the trailer driver was overspeeding to the extent that he couldn’t stop when directed.
In an attempt by the construction worker to run for safety, the vehicle veered towards him into a ditch, where the car is reported to have run over his head.
The trailer driver is reported to have sustained injuries on his hands, face, and legs.
The victim was rushed to the police hospital for medical attention.
About three other trailers were also reported to have been involved in the accident, which resulted in heavy traffic in the area.
Mr Wilkinson admonished contractors to put enough road signs at a reasonable distance at construction sites, including the speed limits and other necessary road measures to prevent such events.
