A 37-year-old farmer from Dodo-Pepesu in the Oti Region, Justice Etse Amuzu, has been accused of fatally shooting his brother, Bright Doe Amuzu, following a dispute.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, August 13, reportedly began with a heated argument between the brothers that escalated into a physical altercation.

According to Seyram Kingsford Adzimah, the assemblyman for the Dodo-Pepesu/Dodo-Tamale Electoral Area, the situation took a tragic turn when the 34-year-old deceased brother later visited Justice’s home in an attempt to reconcile.

However, Justice, still aggrieved from the earlier fight, allegedly picked up a single-barrel gun and shot Bright without provocation.

Bright was rushed to the St. Mary Theresa Catholic Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Friday, August 16.

Justice Etse Amuzu has since been remanded in police custody as investigations continue.

This tragic incident is not an isolated case, as instances of family members turning on their own and committing such heinous acts have been reported before.

Across various communities, similar stories have emerged where disputes within families have escalated to fatal violence.

These cases often stem from long-standing grievances, unresolved tensions, or sudden fits of rage that lead to irreversible actions.
