Tragic accident at Obuasi claims six lives; several injured

At least six people have lost their lives, while others have been injured in a crash involving a Hyundai Urvan and a trailer on the Obuasi-kyekyewere road located within the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti region.

The unfortunate incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Reports suggest that the trailer veered out of control upon reaching Aboagye Motors close to the Obuasi court junction, resulting in a collision with the Hyundai Urvan, which led to the fatalities of six individuals and injuries to several others.

The remains of the deceased have been taken to the Obuasi government hospital, while the injured parties are currently receiving medical care at the facility.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the factors that contributed to the accident.

This comes after the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, Abdulai Mahamud, was involved in a road accident on Tuesday, December 9, while travelling to Tamale for an official assignment.

The incident occurred at Galinzegu, near Sankpagla, in the Central Gonja District along the Yapei-Tamale Highway in the Savannah Region.

Savannah Regional Minister Salisu Be-Awuribe confirmed the accident in a post on his official Facebook page.

He assured the public that the DCE is in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention.
