A devastating fire ravaged three auto part shops and a cold store on Wednesday, September 11, on the Kamara-Mamprobi stretch in Accra.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire which started around 5:00 am at one of the shops was due to a faulty electrical system, which spread to adjacent shops.
The inferno rapidly reduced clothing, electronics, and other goods in the shops to ashes.
The Divisional Officer 3 (DO3) in charge of operations at the Dansoman Fire Station, William Sackey, confirmed the incident.
He said that upon arrival at the scene, firefighters noticed that the main service wire was giving off electrical shocks.
The Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly, with firefighters working tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
The fire was eventually brought under control around 8:45 am.
DO3 Sackey assured that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, authorities are assessing the damage and supporting the affected traders, many of whom are now counting their losses.
