The Ghana Football Association (GFA) president-elect Kurt Okraku has charged compatriots of the sport on the significance of creating an enabling environment for patrons to create wealth.
In his acceptance speech after being declared president-elect of the GFA, he encouraged all and sundry to put Ghana football first, and emphasized on the need to ignite passion in the game.
The businessman and football administrator was declared winner after his main contender George Afriyie conceded defeat even before a scheduled third round was commenced.
Speaking at the Physicians and Surgeons conference hall in Accra, he said “It is time for us to ignite passion and to create wealth for everybody. Our players, our staff, our grounds men, our clubs, the female teams, the coaches, everybody, amateur football across board, this is our time.”
“In celebrating this success, let us all think at all times that its Ghana first. We will celebrate this victory today, tomorrow work begins,” he added.
Okraku replaces the scandal-hit Kwesi Nyantakyi who was President for many years.
His tenure will run for 4 years.
