TikTok made my music soar – Singer, P-Kay

Sierra Leonean music artist, P-Kay better known as AA Komba may be a fresher on the African music scene but he is by far a mega star in the digital space due to his presence on TikTok where he reigns like a king.

With over 3 million followers, the singer could  sell his music to a large audience who could make his music blow in a short time.

Indeed, that is exactly what happened with his debut single titled “Scatter” released in 2022. Coupled with the influence of Nigerian iconic producer, Mastercraft,  who produced the song under P-Kay’s record label, Cribs International, the single blew up as soon as it was released, rightly putting him on the map of rising African music stars to watch.

“TikTok basically made me, because I was a very shy guy but TikTok made people get to know me and I feel very comfortable with it. When I released my first single, people already knew who I was so it was easy. TikTok gave my music career a great lift and I’m only just getting started,” he said.

P-Kay was born on July 20, 2002 as Peter Umar Komba  in Freetown where he developed love for music but his TikToking laid the foundation for his prominence as a music artist. With “Scatter” it appears he has signed his name on the African music register.

“I have five siblings, including my twin brother, Paul. My family are supportive of my passion for TikTok, music and acting and they encouraged me to pursue music and other careers. My sister inspired me to start doing TikTok videos on her phone. In 2020 I started using my own account and became famous with close to 3M followers. I decided to go into acting since I have the passion for it too, and I have done a couple of movies and some skits,” he said, recounting how his journey began.

” ‘Scatter’ has inspired me to continue to pursue my dream of becoming a successful musician,” he said.

“Music means a lot to me, music is life. When I’m stressed or have so much going on, music heals me and it means a lot to me,” he said.

“As a musician, my ultimate goal is to create music that connects with people on a deep level and brings joy to their lives. I love expressing myself through music and sharing that experience with others,” he added.
