Residents of Mangoase near Pokukrom in the Ashanti Region can finally breathe a sigh of relief after police stormed a suspected robbery hideout and arrested three men believed to be part of a dangerous criminal gang.

The suspects, identified as Aziz Abubakar, also known as Romeo, Farawey Amari, and Patient Asare, were picked up on 15 February 2026 during an intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Police Service under the Ashanti Regional Command.

According to police sources, the trio is suspected to be members of a robbery network that has been terrorising parts of Obuasi and surrounding communities.

During a search of their hideout, officers retrieved a pump-action gun loaded with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, a 9 mm round, and GH¢20,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from criminal activity.

Investigators have also linked two of the suspects to the killing of three people at Breme near Bechem in the Bono Region in March 2025, a case that shocked residents at the time.

Efforts are ongoing to track down other suspected accomplices and recover more weapons believed to be in circulation.
