Three arrested for attempting to sell corpse for GH₵7,000
Three persons have been arrested by the Volta Regional Police Command for allegedly murdering and attempting to sell the corpse of a 30-year-old man.
The suspects Kalefe Korku, 42; Afedo Kpotor, 21; and Ametoke Sitsofe, 27; are said to have approached a fetish priest in Agbozume, requesting assistance to sell the corpse of one Albert Anyinado.
The priest is said to have informed the police, who feigned interest in purchasing the corpse at GH¢7,000 after negotiations.
The fake buyer agreed on a meeting point in Agavedzi on Monday morning but the suspects dropped the corpse and fled the scene after spotting the police.
A statement released by the Volta Regional Public Affairs Officer DSP Effia Tenge confirmed the incident.
“Police subsequently pursued and arrested all the three suspects in their various houses at Agavedzi, Agbozume, and Adina,” she indicated.
The body has since been deposited at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
