‘They took away GH¢30,000’ – Sister of killed Assembly Sogakope Assembly man
Assailants of slain Assemblyman in Sogakope in the Volta Region took away GH¢30,000, sister of the deceased has revealed.
Marcus Mawutor Adzahli’s sister, Selorm, told Adom FM that they forcibly took the money from the traumatised wife, while her husband laid motionless.
Mawutor Adzahli, who is a mobile money merchant, was knifed several times and shot in a dawn attack last Sunday, at his home in a compound house.
During their attack on the unarmed businessman, his wife pleaded with the assailants to take GH¢30,000 in exchange for his life, Selorm said.
But the assailants some dressed in black rebuffed the offer, insisting they did not come for the money.
The harrowing ordeal was over in about one hour 45 minutes, the deceased sister said.
With the bloodied body of the target no longer responsive, they turned fresh attention to the money, she continued.
They took it away along with a safe, she said.
Police have begun investigating a suspected case of contract killing of Marcus Adzahli who was elected Assemblyman last December.
The mobile money vendor left behind two daughters aged three and five years.
Selorm said the three-year-old daughter has been hospitalised after sustaining bullet wounds to the head. Wife of the deceased is also seven-months pregnant.
Selorm said residents in the compound house were too frightened to come out after they heard loud warning shots and the breaking down of the deceased’s door that dawn.
She said when she ventured out to help her screaming brother, one assailant pointed a gun to her head and ordered her to leave the scene.
The is no secret in the country
Why did they ask the sister to leave the scene and not to lay down!???hmmmm, may his soul rest in peace
