Thousands of young men and women will get sustainable employment opportunities and entrepreneurship skills, setting them on the path to financial freedom.

All beneficiaries will have equal opportunities and will be selected based on competence and merit, without any favour or special considerations, Group Chief Executive of I-ZAR and Chief Executive of The Ghana Report, Rashida Saani, disclosed as she launched the maiden edition of The Ghana Report Jobs & Entrepreneurship Fair.

The upcoming job expo and entrepreneurship fair was launched at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Friday, September 6, 2024, to connect job seekers with employers and empower aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to succeed.

The highly anticipated two-week programme is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024, to Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre and the Independence Square.

The Ghana Report Jobs and Entrepreneurship Fair will provide business incubation platforms and financial support for viable research projects by universities in Ghana.

Consequently, Ms. Saani encouraged rectors, vice-chancellors and the administrators of various tertiary institutions to get onboard to implement novel solutions that will take Ghana to the next level.

Organised by The Ghana Report, a subsidiary of I-ZAR Group and winner of the Best News Portal of the Year and the Best Portal in Corporate Social Responsibilities at the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, the career and employment fair will feature exhibitors from the public, private, and other sectors.

Recruitments will be undertaken on the spot with government representatives, telecommunication companies, security agencies, business owners, and top employment agencies, among others, confirming participation.

The Ghana Report Jobs and Entrepreneurship Fair will be taking place in partnership with several institutions, including the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

Delivering a speech to provide details about the programme, Ms. Saani emphasized:

“This fair provides job seekers a unique opportunity to engage directly with potential employers, showcase their talents, and secure merit-based employment, not connections.

“We are committed to ensuring that all recruitment at the fair is free from ‘protocol recruitment’ practices. I repeat, there is zero tolerance for ‘protocol list’ at this fair.”

The unemployment rate in Ghana hit 14% in the first three quarters of 2023, according to data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

Again, the number of unemployed youth aged between 15 and 35 rose from 1.2 million to above 1.3 million within the last quarter of 2023.

To plug the unemployment gap after the hugely successful “The Ghana Report Summit” to tackle misinformation and disinformation, The Ghana Report is embarking on this key initiative as part of its numerous social interventions to support Ghana’s economic growth.

The Ghana Report Jobs & Entrepreneurship Fair is hinged on the principle of equality, meaning every participant will be judged on their qualifications, skills, and value they bring, promoting a fair and transparent hiring process.

“By eliminating biases and ensuring a merit-based selection process, we aim to level the playing field and ensure that every capable Ghanaian has an equal chance at finding meaningful employment regardless of background or connections,” astute entrepreneur Ms. Saani explained.

“This approach will not only help in reducing unemployment but also ensure that employers find the best talent to drive their businesses forward.”

Ms. Saani, an internationally recognized business leader and experienced entrepreneurship coach, encouraged all employers and job seekers to register for the fair and embrace the vast opportunities created through partnerships with leading local and international companies.

“The Ghana Report Jobs & Entrepreneurship Fair is not just about finding jobs; it’s about building a stronger, more resilient economy for Ghana. It is about giving our youth and our workforce the opportunity to shine and thrive.

“It is about innovation, collaboration, and, most importantly, creating a future where every Ghanaian has the opportunity to succeed.

“Together, we are taking a significant step towards a brighter future for Ghana, where talent is recognized, entrepreneurship is nurtured, and employment opportunities are abundant,” she concluded.

Job seekers, entrepreneurs, and employers are encouraged to register by calling 0244985099/0534521655 or to visit jobs.theghanareport.com.
