TGMA adds Kuami Eugene as songwriter of Okyeame Kwame’s ‘No Competition’ after review

After a thorough review of nominations submitted to it, the Board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has announced changes to the songwriter of the year category.

The TGMA Board provided a one-week error and omissions window to make corrections to nominations.

The Board, after its review found only one omission. According to a statement released on Thursday, April 3, 2025, by the Board, a review of a petition indicated that Kuami Eugene also contributed to the writing of Okyeame Kwame’s ‘No Competition.’

The scheme had initially nominated only Okyeame Kwame in the songwriter of the year category using the ‘No Competition’ song which both artistes co-wrote.

But the Board has effected changes to this nomination.

“The TGMA Board has corrected the song ‘No Competition’ in the Songwriter of the Year category. The song was initially credited only to Okyeame Kwame. However, after review, we confirm that Kuami Eugene was a co-writer. The official nominees list has been updated accordingly,” the release reads.

The TGMA Board reaffirmed its commitment to fairness for artistes. “We also reiterate our dedication to educating stakeholders, leveraging the error and omission window as a valuable learning tool,” the statement added.
