Tension has gripped Anweaso, a town in the Eastern Region, following failed attempts to locate a 25-year-old woman days after a misunderstanding.

Danjuma Laliatu disappeared after a confrontation with Kwadwo Ahenfie over a farm boundary dispute on October 7.

According to family members, Laliatu returned home from her farm on October 7 with multiple injuries, alleging she had been attacked by Kwadwo Ahenfie, who shares a boundary with her farm.

Laliatu narrated that she fought back and managed to escape, sustaining several injuries in the process and losing her wrist beads which got torn during the altercation.

Regardless of her injuries, she later decided to go back to the farm to retrieve her belongings but never returned home.

Subsequently, the Akwatia police arrested Ahenfie on October 8 but released him the same day.

Information gathered indicates that after Ahenfie’s release his family launched celebrations, which angered Laliatu’s family and friends.

Laliatu’s family and residents of the town are demanding the whereabouts of the young lady as police intensify investigations into the matter.

Addressing the media at their family house, Laliatu’s uncle, Alidu Issah, expressed disappointment in the police and urged the Inspector General of Police to intervene.
“We want a thorough investigation. The suspect’s easy release undermines justice,” he said.
