A fatal altercation between two co-tenants over a machete at Suibo, in the Western North Region, has resulted in the death of one.

The deceased has been identified as Matthew Adu.

According to the Assemblyman for the Oparekrom Electoral Area, Solomon Adukpe, the dispute began when Matthew took a cutlass of the suspect, who had only recently moved into the area, without informing him.

He indicated that after Matthew returned from work with the cutlass, he met the suspect near their home.

When the suspect confronted him, Matthew refused to return the cutlass directly but offered to return it to its original location (where he took it from).

The assemblyman explained that during the exchange, a struggle ensued, and the cutlass accidentally slashed the palm of the suspect.

The suspect, who thought the injury was intentional, snatched the cutlass from Matthew and retaliated, resulting in fatal injuries.

Matthew was rushed to the Dadieso Government Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

His body has been deposited at an Enchi mortuary.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with investigations.
