Teenager charged for defiling Kindergarten girl
When a five-year-old girl decided to play on the laps of a 19-year old man she had no idea what awaited her.
It was just another hop up and down on the laps of a man she calls “uncle,” although they are not related.
That play turned nasty when the junior high school graduate, who could not keep his zips closed allegedly defiled the little girl.
Jonathan Atinga is standing trial at the Accra Circuit Court, where he is answering charges on defilement.
The accused allegedly lured the victim to an obscure place and had sexual intercourse with her.
Without any legal representation, Atinga pleaded not guilty to the charge at the court, presided over by Christina Cann.
The hearing continues on June 12.
What the prosecution said
According to Chief Inspector J.B Asante, who is prosecuting the case, the complainant, who happens to be the mother of the victim [name withheld], lives in the same house with both the accused and the victim.
The victim, in July 2019, had returned from school and was playing with other children when the accused called her to a corner and had sexual intercourse with her.
According to the prosecution, the accused made her sit on his lap and had sex with her.
On July 9, 2019, the complainant detected that the victim was not in good health and questioned her.
The victim told her mother what she went through in the hands of the accused.
The victim’s mother subsequently made a report at the Nima DOVVSU and was issued a police medical report form for examination and treatment.
After investigations, the accused was arrested and charged with the offence.
