Teachers express worry over implementation of Student Information System

Some teachers have expressed worry over the limited information made available to them on the new Student Information System(SIS) proposed by government. The teachers lament that very little information on the project is known to them despite the fact that they remain key stakeholders in the implementation of the SIS come September.

The Ghana Report gathers that the Student Information System(SIS) is a program which will provide a simple interface for maintenance of student information across Senior High Schools in Ghana.

The system, when implemented, will track all the details of a student from his or her first day at school to the end of his course, track attendance, progress in the course, exam details and results or any other assignment details.

Speaking exclusively to The Ghana Report, the General Secretary of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Samuel Frank Dadzie said though NAGRAT has been made aware of the coming into fruition of the SIS this September, members do not have any information whatsoever with regards to preparation, planning, logistics, the number of schools to be enrolled in the system and teachers involved.

“I am not in a position to give you something that will be relevant,” he said.
