The All Teachers Alliance Ghana(ATAG) has condemned the indefinite strike of three other teacher unions over the appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as the new Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
According to the group, the decision by the three unions is unwarranted, so they should call off the strike and apologise to their members for interrupting services.
The group has indicated that the primary reason for the strike is invalid based on the definition of an educationist.
They, therefore, encouraged all teachers to focus on how best the educational sector can be improved rather than those that only benefit a small group of privileged individuals.
The group disclosed this in a press release signed by the General Secretary of the All Teachers Alliance Group (ATAG), Albert Dadson Amoah, on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is meeting the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) today over the decision to take the abrupt strike action.
The meeting is also geared towards finding a solution to the problem for teachers to return to the classrooms by tomorrow, November 8, 2022.
