Taxi driver who sped off with police officer on car bonnet granted bail
A Circuit Court in Koforidua has granted the taxi driver who sped with a police officer on top of his bonnet bail.
Daniel Ofosu, 36, pleaded not guilty to the offence of dangerous driving and resisting arrest and was granted bail in the sum of GHc 20,000.
He is to reappear on March 31, 2019.
Ofosu was arrested last week, after a viral video of the incident took the internet by storm, with many raising questions over what may have triggered such recklessness.
The incident reportedly happened in the Eastern Region. According to police, the driver attempted escaping arrest after disregarding road safety regulations.
Public Relations Officer for the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said it had charged the suspect with dangerous driving.
“He was picking passengers at unauthorised places. He failed to stop when the MTTD officers stopped him and sped off. He also drove over the leg of one of the MTTD Officers,” he said.
On Friday, February 28, 2020, another commercial bus driver (trotro driver), Bonsu Osei, ran over and killed a police officer at East Legon while escaping arrest.

While the conductor (mate) of the bus is in police custody, the driver is still on the run days after he committed his offence.
He has, however, been declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service for the murder of the officer.
Why do policemen in Ghana always want to physically arrest driver’s by putting their own lives in danger when they can simply take their license plate numbers and arrest them later?
I wonder self give them
