Tasty Tom Tomato Mix recalled after FDA and National Security alert
Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has announced an immediate recall of specific batches of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix due to reports of bloating in some products.
This recall has been initiated following guidance from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and National Security and impacts all 210g and 400g cans, along with selected 380g and 1.05kg pouches.
In a public notice signed by the Business Head at Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, the company clarified that this action is a result of regulatory investigations into potential safety concerns regarding the product.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our consumers and trade partners because of this issue and recall,” the statement read.
“We at Nutrifoods Ghana Ltd are committed to delivering high-quality products meeting all the required stringent national food safety standards and ensure our consumers are delighted with our products.
The company has urged consumers not to use the affected products and has committed to recovering and replacing them.
“We want to assure our consumers and partners that we are actively working to retrieve all affected products and will facilitate replacements smoothly,” they stated, inviting customers with the impacted items to return them to their offices or any of their distributors nationwide.
In January 2025, the FDA ordered a suspension of the manufacturing lines for the 210g and 400g sizes.
“Production has halted. Currently, all manufacturing operations are suspended until further notice to fully comply with the regulatory recommendations,” Nutrifoods confirmed.
The company reassured the public that it is fully cooperating with the FDA to ensure a transparent recall process, stating, “We are diligently working alongside the FDA to ensure a seamless recall experience for all affected consumers.”
