Takoradi man arrested after fatal stabbing of teenage brother
A heartbreaking family tragedy has shaken the community of Mampong in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
A man, Anthony Acquah, has been arrested by police for allegedly stabbing his 17-year-old brother, Francis Mensah, to death during a heated argument.
The incident happened on the evening of Saturday, August 16, 2025.
According to reports, tensions rose between the two brothers after Francis broke a padlock to retrieve his phone from Anthony’s locked room.
The younger brother had reportedly searched for hours to find Anthony before deciding to force entry. When Anthony returned home and saw what had happened, the argument escalated and turned deadly.
“The phone of the younger one, who is now deceased, was in the room of his elder brother. After many hours of searching for his brother without seeing him, he decided to break the padlock to access the room.
“When the elder sibling returned and realised this, he became angry, leading to a confrontation. He then pulled a knife and killed his brother instantly,” explained Nana Kwamena Famanyame, the community’s chief linguist.
After the attack, Anthony reportedly fled the scene and went into hiding. Acting on a tip-off, police located and arrested him on August 20 at a hideout in Kojokrom near Sekondi.
The suspect is now in police custody, assisting with investigations. The body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
