A suspected gang of armed assailants allegedly shot three persons during a robbery spree at Wassa Dompoase in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

The gang reportedly went on a rampage on the night of Monday, August 5, and attacked several homes and gold dealership shops in the community.

They blocked the main road in the town and disconnected an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer, plunging the whole town into darkness before they started their operation.

They stole several gold bars and an undisclosed amount of money after shooting their victims, who sustained various degrees of injuries.

The gang, however, escaped before the police arrived.

According to the residents, this was the second robbery incident in the area in days.

A similar incident occurred when a mobile money operator and other shops, including a gold shop, were robbed.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

This comes after two robbers were apprehended by the Awutu Bereku Police for robbing an Okada rider, Stephen Tetteh, and brutally severing his left hand.

The incident happened on August 3, 2024.

According to Stephen, the suspects hired him to transport them from Awutu Bereku Lorry Station to Ahentia.

Upon arrival, they attacked him with powdered pepper and attempted to steal his motorbike.

When Stephen resisted, one of the suspects used a machete to chop off his hand.
