A shocking incident of mob justice has resulted in the death of a motorcycle rider, known as Guy-man, in Kwame Kwei in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central region.

The victim, a farmer and “Okada” rider from Awutu Bontrase, was accused of stealing a goat and subsequently set ablaze along with his motorbike on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Police sources confirm that the suspect was lynched by an angry mob, who took the law into their own hands.

The Awutu Bontrase Police have retrieved the body and deposited it at the mortuary, pending further investigations.

No arrests have been made yet, as the police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a similar situation, on Sunday, June 23, 2024, around 2 a.m. an alleged thief, who attempted to steal a motorbike at Wassa Gromisa in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region, was burnt to death by a mob.

According to a resident, some unit committee members saw three guys loitering around a motorcycle repair shop at midnight on Sunday.

“All of a sudden they saw the deceased enter the shop’s premises and attempt to break a chain which was used to lock most of the motorcycles sent to the shop for repair works while the other two were spying around.”

“So the committee members who saw the suspects raised an alarm and called for reinforcement. Two of the suspects bolted but the deceased was cornered and later burnt to death,” the resident narrated.

Some of the residents alleged that they suspected the deceased was a member of a syndicate behind some robberies in the area.

In another incident, a 29-year-old man was lynched at Ayigbe Town in the Weija Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

According to some residents, he was found in a pool of blood with bricks by his side.

Some residents believe the deceased was a thief and was lynched by unknown assailants.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Kofi Asare, has called for justice for his son.

He insisted that his son was not a criminal despite speculations.
