Supreme Court adjourns NAM1’s case to July 29

The Supreme Court has postponed its decision on a request filed by Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, to halt his ongoing criminal trial at the High Court.

The former CEO of the defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited is seeking a stay of proceedings until his appeal is fully resolved.

NAM1’s appeal comes after the Court of Appeal dismissed his initial application, leaving the High Court’s order for him to begin his defence intact. Unwilling to accept that ruling, he took the matter to Ghana’s apex court.

During a sitting on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a court clerk announced that the hearing had been adjourned to July 29.

NAM1, along with Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited, faces 39 criminal charges. These include operating a deposit-taking business without a licence, defrauding by false pretence, money laundering, and breach of trust.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains out on bail while the legal process unfolds.

The High Court proceedings are currently paused, pending the Supreme Court’s decision on his latest application.

The outcome of this adjourned hearing could have significant implications for the lengthy legal saga involving Menzgold, which left thousands of investors without their funds.
